A Bit About Me…

Let’s start with the basics, shall we? I am 26, married, mother of one. That’s where the normalness ends.

I am obsessed with many things, like changing my hair color (it’s back to brown after a whole day at the salon treatment to get the blue out – ugh). I can’t control myself in a comic book store. I spend about 50 dollars a week on comics, although this week I only spent 30 and was quite proud. A certain someone has me hooked on Doctor Wh;o which then led me to be hooked on almost anything on the BBC (Being Human, check it outsies!). I am in nursing school and my current obsession is trying to incorporate geek culture into any papers I have to write. Must open people’s eyes to the geekiness they are missing! I love photography and I love make-up and since my friends are lacking I do myself quite a bit. Did I just say, “I do myself quite a bit.”? Why, yes, yes I did.

In my younger days, I was involved in volunteering for the democratic party. Sadly, Bush still got elected and that may have been the first time I felt my heart break. This was around the time I was introduced to my lord and master, Jhonen Vasquez, and the comic obsession started. Now, I’m more mainstream. Oh in case you didn’t catch that bit there…I have, among other things, ADHD. Look! Squirrels!

So, what am I going to write about? I don’t know yet, probably comics (ooo, Harley Quinn!) and just thoughts on the world we live in.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Today you can have all the cake you want - cookie or otherwise.

That’s right kids, today is the Blog-Master’s birthday.  I’m sure I speak for all of us, commentators and readers alike, when I wish you a very Happy Birthday! We hope you have a great day and weekend!

Lazy Blogging and a Call for Writers

Yeah, if you hadn’t noticed, things have been extremely busy for me with work and real life. So I’m going to start busting some heads and remind my whole gaggle of guest writers to chip in and help pick up some of the slack for a bit.

The blog puttering along right now, getting over 10K pageviews a month. So, get your writing chops on and help out a poor overworked blogger ;)

If you haven’t noticed, this blog is about everything and nothing, so that means you can write about pretty much anything, so long as it’s interesting to someone.

Anyway, I’m going to keep writing, but it just frustrates me to not be able to put the time into the blog that I would like to. So hopefully with a few other people contributing content, we can bring things back to a more colorful and interesting blog.

Moving Day At Work

We’re moving today, so enjoy yourselves while I’m off the grid! I think work is taking us to the Tilted Kilt for lunch, so this should be entertaining.

Just as a bit of FYI, so far this has been the best month of the history of this little blog, and so a shout out of hello to all the new visitors and people who take the time to visit this strange little place in the interwebs.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your stay and I hope that we can continue to amuse, entertain, and occasionally make you think.

I’d say feel free to comment and introduce yourselves, but you never do, though maybe this time someone will :)

Hospital blogging

Yep, I got really sick yesterday and ended up in the hospital. While I feel better, they don’t agree and I’m still stuck here. Fingers crossed I won’t be here another night.

In the meantime can someone tell me how in the world you ever get better in a hospital when they’re doing things to you every 30 minutes. I can fall back asleep at the drop of a hat, even with all the beeps and bleeps and noises (IV Pumps make weird noises). But even so, every 30 minutes? If anything i feel exhausted because of their unwillingness to just. let. me. sleep.

Either way, here’s hoping normal blog postin resumes in the next day or two.

Getting Back to a more Normal Schedule

Well, I’m back from an enjoyable, if exhausting, vacation (leading to the old saying, ‘I need a vacation from my vacation’). Things should be returning to normal soon, but don’t expect full time blogging until after the new year.

Hopefully, everyone had a fantastic holiday and with the new year fast approaching, let’s all have a safe and fun celebration.

In the meantime, I’m going to try to catch up with the events of the past week.

Vacation Time

Well boys and Girls, It looks like I’ll be on vacation until Monday, and along with driving the next few days there’s going to be a lot of food involved. So you’re probably not going to see much in the way of posting from me. Hopefully, some of the other contributors will be able to fill in a bit of the slack for the next few days. If not, well, I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas or an amazingly awesome Holidays!

If You Couldn’t Tell

I Feel like I’m pretty wiped today. Sure I could talk about health care. or Afghanistan. but I don’t think I’m really coherent enough to write anything constructive on those topics. So play nice kiddies, and if i have something more to put out, I’ll be sure to put it up. Hopefully, other people can take up a little bit of the slack today and I’ll be a little less out of it tomorrow.

Holiday Posting Schedule For the Next Few Weeks

In other words, I’ll post as I can. But we all know how busy holidays can get and I’m not going to promise I’ll be able to keep up regular posting until January. No worries, I’ll keep posting, and perhaps we’ll even see some stuff from other people *hint hint*. I just don’t want people wondering why some of the regular features have been… irregular.

Happy Thanksgiving

May your food be succulent and may the next year bring more things to be grateful for!

Oops

Evidently during the switch to a newer version of wordpress (or when I forgot at some point to turn it back on) registration was turned off for new commenters. It’s back on now, so anyone who wants to leave snarky comments can now create accounts, simply click on the ‘register‘ link and it should prompt you to create a new user.

Comments are semi regulated, so don’t be surprised if your first comments are held for moderation. But otherwise once you’ve established an account, you’ll be able to comment as you wish.

Computer Issues

Yeah,

Been down all day with computer issues. You’d think they’d have ways to keep things stable, but that’s the price you pay with *insert OS here*, It’ll be a bit before I catch up, but regular posting will resume shortly.

We’ve also upgraded to the latest version of wordpress, so if things break, lemme know and I’ll act like I’m working on fixing it :)

Call for Writers

I’m sure those of you who’ve read the blog over the last year and a half have seen a number of different people come and go. Well, I need a break. a vacation from writing in here for a few days or a week. So I need are either people who’ve written before, or people who may want to post, to throw their hat in the ring. If you’re interested, post a comment and email you.

The requirements aren’t that strict but I do expect:
1) The ability to write in good English, or know the difference between lose and loose, to and too, threw and through etc.

2) A willingness to write about topics that you think could be interesting to people, keeping in mind the geeky and Libertarian/Liberal bent of the blog.

and

3) Willing to put up 1 to 3 posts a day. You can schedule posts, so you can write some things ahead of time and let them go live later.

4) No one gets paid, this is all done for fun. We don’t run ads and I don’t plan on starting.

Obviously I’m not taking a break yet, but it’d be nice to get some more people writing on here. So leave a comment if you’re interested. If I don’t get any comments, well then, I know I’m on my own ;)

One of Those Days

The Falcons won. So did the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Yellowjackets won on Thursday.

I really don’t have anything I want to write about today (which usually means around 3pm I’ll put up like 5 posts in a row when something catches my eye). So go do something constructive and check back later. ;)

Under The Weather

Eh,

Feel like crap with an ear infection and in general don’t feel like writing much, You kiddies are on your own today.
