At least it wasn’t a bat’leth

Damn guys, I know Georgia Tech is hard, but there’s no need to go all Samurai when you flunk out. You know, at least he was a geek and thought that a sword was the most effective attack. I wonder if he rolled a d20 before he swung.

Reason #412 why I would rather watch Good Eats than the News

Stuff like this makes me the angriest during this whole recession/housing crisis/economic clusterfuck.

A recent interview, as seen on “Dateline”while channel-surfing.

Dateline Correspondent: “You have 4 Condos, 6 mortgages… totaling 1.3 Million dollars?”

Interviewee: “That is correct. That is a lot of money but that was not a problem. I had a very lucrative daycare, plus I was taking care of mentally delayed foster children…”

Dateline Correspondent: “Maybe you just didn’t pay attention to the mortgage part of this as closely as you should have and that is partly how you got into this mess?”

Interviewee: “No, I wouldn’t say that. I ran into the legal problems is what caused me to get into all of the mortgage issues.”

* * * omitted for time reasons in which she blames her deceased (in 1997) husband for her being “Placed in the situation” * * *

Dateline Correspondent: “How was your income in 2006?”

Interviewee: “In 2006, my income was Very Good”

Dateline Correspondent: “This is actually your 2006 tax return it shows a negative income of $6,813″

Interviewee: “Was this my income?”

* * More tele-drivel * * *

Interviewee: “I wasn’t having any problems making my mortgage payments. All the money I have spent on attorneys fees and filing fees is why I am in a situation right now called bankruptcy because it has been so expensive but I’m still in a mess”

Dateline Correspondent: “Do you take any responsibility for that mess Delores?”

Interviewee: “No, I don’t take no responsibility”

Dateline Correspondent: “So you’re the victim?”

Interviewee: “I’m a victim”

Apparently, there is good money to be had in being a foster parent. Call me old-fashioned but I thought the government granted foster care subsidy “for the care of the foster children” was to be used on NOT PAYING THE MORTGAGE ON FOUR CONDOS. How many condos can your foster children live in at a time?

So being the responsible adult that I am, if I do not have $1.3 Million to spend on mortgages, I do not buy 4 condos. Let’s tone this down to a smaller scale even. I do not have $150 for a new pair of boots. I do not open a new line of credit to purchase said boots if I STILL CANNOT AFFORD IT. Did you sleep through Finance 101, Delores? How about Basic Math? If an American makes -$6,000 and you take out $1.3M in loans, what do you get? Featured on Dateline, apparently.
