Beauty Over Wisdom

just as beautiful as you are
It’s so pitiful what you are
you should have seen this coming all along

visually you’re stimulating to my eyes
your Cinderella syndrome’s full of lies
your insecurities are concealed by your pride
pretty soon your ego will kill what’s left inside

just as beautiful as you are
It’s so pitiful what you are
you should have seen this coming all along
It’s so pitiful what you are
as beautiful as you are
you should have seen this coming all along

you’re everything that’s so typical
maybe you’re alone for a reason, you’re the reason

it’s so pitiful what you are, you should have seen this coming all along

Change My Attempt

Last night, laying in your bed, listening to the sound of your breathing for hours before I drifted off to sleep, I had a dream.

The Rockies.Montana

All is vanity and other nonsense

I have discovered recently that through grief  I’ve returned to photography.Pictures and the editing of such photos old photos and new ones come much easier for me than words.Allthough I have been writing quite alot  just nothing for public consumption quite yet.So much has happened in the past month that my mind is still jumbled for lack of a better term.

Ive lost a fiance,we were together for three years,Ive traveled twice across the country, taking two different routes from Georgia to Washington state, then back again all in the past month,I’ve been through at least eight states, maybe more and now I’m in the process of moving to Tacoma,Washington and will be starting a new job shortly. All of this was supposed to be done with the love of my life by my side but we have broken up.Ive seen so much, felt so much.I do believe that my brain has short circuited slightly or perhaps I am just a bit numb.I know that when the anaesthetic wears off the grief will become stronger, allowing me to heal and eventually be stronger.Until that time I am just here.I am coping fine. When I do start writing publicly again do not be surprised if its different than the way that I usually write

I did photo document my recent travels. If anyone wants to see the photos let me know.I got some amazing shots:-)

Anyway here’s me,just fooling around with a new photo editing thingy.Yes well its vain,I feel ugly so today Im glamorous:-)

Red

Really?

So, not only is she Anti Abortion. She evidently believes that All birth Control and Condoms should be outlawed, even for Married Couples. As a bonus, she also believes that Creationism would be ok to discuss in science classes to counter balance Evolution. I’m ok with the idea that people believe in Intelligent Design Creationism, and if it were discussed in a Theology class, that’d be fine, but the moment that you begin creating the belief (no pun intended) that the two are somehow on the same footing scientifically. That’s unacceptable as we must keep the distinction between faith and reason distinct and separated.

In Honor of Sarah Palin’s Pick (II)

Here are the names of her children: Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper & Trig Palin. I’m not sure what to make of this. Willow and Piper are good solid names, even if she probably named willow from Buffy. Bristol, well, I suppose NASCAR fans would approve, but I’m not sure about track or Trig. They sound like someone was looking at a high school year book for names, threw darts and they landed on the Track and on the Trig Teacher.

They’re umm… not typical I guess. But I wonder about anyone who’d name their kids Track and Trig.

Update: yes, this is mildly snarky and amusing, it’s not meant to be a serious critique. There are many serious reasons to worry about Palin. This isn’t one of them :)

In Honor of Sarah Palin’s Pick

Here’s an article pointing out The Pro-life case against Nursing, Caffeine, and Exercise.

More on Palin and Troopergate!

Links.

a few choice quotes:

The first serious scandal in Gov. Sarah Palin’s administration has roots in a family feud. It erupted into public view with the July 11 firing of the state’s top public safety official (Monegan).

At issue is whether Palin, her administration or family improperly pressured Monegan to fire Alaska State Trooper Michael Wooten, the ex-husband of Palin’s sister, and whether Palin fired Monegan when that didn’t happen. Palin’s sister, Molly McCann, and Wooten are divorced but still battling in court over custody and visitation.

Before she was governor, Palin pushed for a trooper investigation of Wooten over a number of matters, including using a Taser on his stepson, illegally shooting a moose and accusations of driving drunk. At one point, Palin and her husband, Todd, hired a private investigator.

The trooper gets suspended for 2 weeks, which is later reduced to 1 week. Now after she becomes Governor….

Palin initially said that after she took office in December 2006, she broached the subject of Wooten with her public safety commissioner, Monegan, just once, when they discussed her security detail.

Ok, Person is in a nasty custody battle with your sister, and you bring it up once you’re Governor? that by itself seems like a conflict of interest but may have been innocuous and had the story ended there… but then you have Monegan contradicting the story.

Monegan said Palin herself again brought up Wooten in February as they were walking together to wish a state senator a happy birthday. Monegan said he told Palin he had to keep her at arm’s distance on the matter and she agreed.

Todd Palin talked to him several times, and three officials in Palin’s administration also put pressure on the department, Monegan said.

Uh oh. And then you fire Monegan?

And now you reveal that your agency had Two dozen contacts with Monegan, but that you had nothing to do with it? Ummm, story’s really going through an evolution here.

and then you have this little Gem:

In the phone call, which was recorded by troopers, as they do routinely, (Palin) aide Frank Bailey told the trooper lieutenant that Palin and her husband wanted to know why Wooten still has a job.

“Todd and Sarah are scratching their heads, ‘Why on earth hasn’t this, why is this guy still representing the department?’ He’s a horrible recruiting tool, you know,” Bailey told Lt. Rodney Dial.

This could be entertaining.

Palin?

Well well well it’s Sarah Palin.

It’s not a safe pick. It’s a darkhorse pick and I agree with Sullivan that it seems more geared towards trying to co-opt the change argument from Obama as well as trying to pull the PUMA voters that supported Clinton over to Palin because, she’s a woman.

It’s probably McCain’s best effort to get out of the box that he’s trapped in, but Palin is a very tricky pick as she has some fairly serious ethics charges leveled against her and her administration right now. It’s a bit of a grasp at straws, but it’s a good one. Assuming, of course, that the ethics investigation doesn’t bite her, or inexperience comes back to bite her.

McCain v Obama, The Taxes Edition

From the Washington Post

In a nutshell, Both candidates would cut taxes for most taxpayers, McCain focuses his tax breaks on the top 2 percent of the population. Obama focuses his tax cuts on the bottom 95 percent.

Quote for the day

I can’t imagine this is anything more than a really lame attempt at a joke or snark, but at this point it just goes to show you how classy and innovative the McCain Camp has become.

“The next president of the United States should sign an executive order requiring the Census Bureau to cease and desist from describing any American — even illegal aliens — as uninsured… So, there you have it. Voila! Problem solved.”

– John Goodman, a health care adviser to Sen. John McCain, quoted by the Dallas Morning News.

Here’s hoping this *doesn’t* happen

This is September 2nd

This would be September 5th

And this would be September 6th

If something like this happened, it would a monumental disaster, the first storm (that’s Gustav) slamming into the New Orleans area as a major hurricane on Tuesday September 2nd. Followed by the potential future Hanna (currently designated 95L, which will likely be a tropical depression by tomorrow afternoon). Hanna also has a high chance of becoming a major hurricane, which appears to rake the Florida coast on the 5th, hammering into the Georgia Coast on the 6th.

Yeah… it’s all model forecasting, and things can and will change dramatically, but that scenario is still not a pleasant one.

Hillary’s Speech

I made it a point to watch her speech last night. Not being a fan of Hillary, I’ve felt she was too busy treating the entire nomination process as a coronation and didn’t have a plan in place when it became a marathon fight. She was petty and vicious. And she lost. I was curious to see how she’d respond after having a bit of time to chew on her loss, lick her wounds, and accept that Biden was going to be the VP pick.

Boy is Obama happy that she didn’t give speeches like that in January and February.

No way. No how. No McCain.

Barack Obama is my candidate. And he must be our president.

It’s like someone put a charge in her, she kept gaining momentum into the speech.

Those are the reasons I ran for president. Those are the reasons I support Barack Obama. And those are the reasons you should too.

I want you to ask yourselves: Were you in this campaign just for me? ….

Which is the whole point that people are missing. Supporting McCain because you’re pissed that Obama beat Clinton and throwing away every opportunity to support someone who’s very similar to Clinton’s policy just because you’re bitter? foolish foolish.

And when Barack Obama is in the White House, he’ll revitalize our economy, defend the working people of America, and meet the global challenges of our time. Democrats know how to do this. As I recall, President Clinton and the Democrats did it before. And President Obama and the Democrats will do it again.

Brilliantly done. remind people of the past success and tie it together with the idea of a future success with Obama.

John McCain says the economy is fundamentally sound. John McCain doesn’t think that 47 million people without health insurance is a crisis. John McCain wants to privatize Social Security. And in 2008, he still thinks it’s okay when women don’t earn equal pay for equal work.

With an agenda like that, it makes sense that George Bush and John McCain will be together next week in the Twin Cities. Because these days they’re awfully hard to tell apart.

She actually went after McCain pretty hard. which the Democrats need. A way to tie Bush and McCain together. Remind people of Bush and the job he’s done.

and the Harriet Tubman parable was fantastic.

But remember, before we can keep going, we have to get going by electing Barack Obama president.

We don’t have a moment to lose or a vote to spare.

Nothing less than the fate of our nation and the future of our children hang in the balance.

And people can say it wasn’t enthusiastic or it was this or that, I didn’t see that at all, She was positively glowing as she spoke to the crowd. She nailed it. and stuck the landing.
